The Confluence Pedigree Limousin herd was formed in 1999 with the purchase of two yearling heifers from the Scorboro Herd, with further purchases the following year from the Middledale herd. Later in 2000 saw the first crop of calves which included Confluence Romeo which, in early 2002, was sold at Carlisle for 10,500 gns to Mr W Mclaren of Perthshire. Romeo also took 1st and reserve intermediate champion prizes and since being sold he has gone on to win further prizes at shows around Scotland. In June 2002 three more yearling heifers were purchased from the Cockleshell herd which at the time increased our pedigree herd to seven. 2005 saw the sale of our last remaining Belgian Blue cross breeds and the end of our commercial herd.

 

Most of the females bred from the herd are retained for pedigree breeding but some are sold for commercial breeding, the first of such being Confluence Vimto who sold at Carlisle Red Ladies Derby 2006 for 4,400 gns and also took 1st prize for her class. Some of our bulls that have been bred have been sold to herds in Lincolnshire and have gone on to produce pedigree, pure and cross breed high quality stock.

 

During the last 3 years we have joined “Signet” recording and the cattle health scheme with the Scottish Agricultural College and all stock are BVD and Lepto free and Johnes monitored.
